Position Summary: 

The Mortgage Closing Specialist I is responsible for creating closing documents and balancing loans against estimates and final Closing Disclosures. In addition, the Mortgage Documentation Processor is responsible for reviewing and verifying that all required aspects of the loan process have been met prior to wiring funds.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review approved loans to ensure that documents, conditions, and requirement are complete and accurate prior to funding 
• Review conditions for funding and identify items requiring underwriter clearance prior to or at closing 
• Verify and confirm all required closing documents are dated, signed, and notarized 
• Ensures signed loan packages meet compliance standards, addressing discrepancies as necessary 
• Review executed loan documents prior to disbursing funds 
• Calculate funding amounts for loan package, balance figures, verifies and sets up lender wire for closing 
• Fund loans in alignment to established timelines, regulations, and procedures per state 
• Balance closing documents with title/settlement company 
• Follow up on any missing or additional documentation needed from all parties 
• Complete Compliance CDs and Final CDs, ensuring adherence to TRID guidelines 
• Validate and update fields and tracking records for core business system (Symitar) 
• Upload all final documents into Marine Credit Union imaging system  
• Maintain current knowledge of Policies and Procedures for documentation and funding processes

Experience:                                                                     

• 1-2 years mortgage funding/closing experience desired
• Experience with Encompass preferred
• Experience of mortgage and commercial loan processes a plus 

Education:   High School Diploma.  Associate’s College Degree in Finance, Business, Math, Accounting or related field a plus. Certifications related to Lending and Loan Processing desirable.

Physical requirements (with or without accommodation): 

Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, be able to lift 15 pounds frequently, and do repetitive tasks.
