Director of Marketing & Communications

We’re Looking for a Marketing Maestro Who Can Juggle Strategy, Storytelling, and SEO Without Dropping the Ball
Director of Marketing & Communications
Full-time | Fond du Lac, WI

Are you the kind of person who gets a thrill from watching campaign analytics in real-time? Do you speak fluent Google Analytics, dabble in CRMs before breakfast, and geek out over brand storytelling just as much as bounce rates? Do you believe that a compelling Instagram reel and a well-placed media hit can drive economic impact?

Then keep reading—because Envision Greater Fond du Lac is looking for a Director of Marketing & Communications who’s equal parts creative visionary, digital tactician, and community ambassador.

What You’ll Do

We’re a lean team with big goals, and your mission will be to lead the strategy and execution of all marketing and communications efforts that amplify Envision’s impact in economic development, community growth, and business advocacy.

You’ll:

  • Own and execute omni-channel marketing strategies that elevate our visibility and reinforce our brand voice.
  • Lead and mentor our Marketing Coordinator—because great marketing isn’t a solo act.
  • Develop integrated campaigns that stretch across digital, print, events, and earned media.
  • Capture the Moment – Whether it’s snapping photos at a ribbon cutting or producing a hype video for our Annual Meeting, you’ll be our in-house visual storyteller—from creative concept to polished final cut.
  • Be the storyteller-in-chief—crafting content that connects with real people and reflects our mission.
  • Promote major events like the Annual Meeting and Economic Forecast with creativity and polish.
  • Translate data into action. You’ll track KPIs, pull reports, and use insights to guide decisions.

Let’s Talk Tech

We want someone who gets the full digital toolbox. During the interview, we might ask:

  • How do you measure social media effectiveness?
  • What digital marketing tools are your go-to and why?
  • How does SEO influence your content planning?
  • Can you give an example of a digital campaign you launched that made real impact?
  • What role does CRM software play in your marketing process?
  • How have you integrated MarTech tools or built a marketing tech stack?
  • How do you use analytics tools for campaign reporting?

But Also, Let’s Talk People

Marketing here isn’t done in a vacuum. You’ll:

  • Work cross-functionally with economic development pros, business advocates, and community leaders.
  • Adapt strategies based on what’s happening locally, regionally, or globally.
  • Lead with empathy in a mission-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves culture.
  • Handle crisis communication with clarity and calm.
  • Stay curious and keep up with emerging trends and best practices—we love a good “hey, have you seen this?” Zoom/Teams message.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5–7 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field (Marketing, Communications, PR, etc.)
  • Experience with CRMs (GrowthZone is a bonus), SEO, social media management, content marketing, and design tools like Canva, Adobe Suite, or Publisher
  • Excellent writing, editing, and campaign planning skills
  • A collaborative spirit and a desire to make an impact in the community you call home

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • We’re mission-driven, people-first, and passionate about growing Fond du Lac County.
  • You’ll never be bored—we move fast, think big, and celebrate wins together.
  • Your ideas will matter. Your work will be seen. Your team will have your back.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $59,000-$74,000 annual salary based on experience
  • Health Insurance
  • Vision and Dental Insurance
  • PTO
  • Matching 401k
  • Short term disability
  • Life Insurance
