ADVOCAP’s Head Start program is accepting applications for a Bus Driver! ADVOCAP’s Head Start program prepares children ages 3-5 with quality early childhood education in Fond du Lac and Green Lake counties. We help families reach financial, career, and educational goals, while building resilience and confidence for the entire family. 

This position will need to have a welcoming and friendly personality to ensure comfortability in working with kids and families that align with our core mission and values for all employees. The position will provide safe transportation by driving a minibus for children ages 3-5 to and from various locations in the Fond du Lac area. This position will assist in other areas of the program in between driving duties

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete necessary documentation/record keeping as required by Supervisor and Head Start (HS).
• Follow transportation regulations enacted by HS & the State & Federal Transportation Boards concerning the health and safety of children.
• Assist in the preparation of bus routes & adhere to fixed route.
• Provide transportation to educational, medical field trips & other extra or special assignment trips.
• Receive phone calls from parents, or contact parents via the phone as needed.
• Monitor the safe operation and cleanliness of the bus.
• Communicate positively & effectively.
• Ensure that no one enters the bus other than yourself, bus monitor & children.
• Promptness is required.
• Enforce conduct and safety rules on the bus.
• Ensure your availability to work early morning and later evening hours as well as occasional Fridays and weekends.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• A bus endorsement is required at time of hire or to be obtained within 6 weeks of hire.
• High school degree or GED/HSED and 12—18 months of previous related work experience.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule of possibly varying duties at various locations in the Fond du Lac area.
• Completion of internal training modules, skill-level programs, or other training/programs.
• Possess or will obtain within the first 90 days of employment CDL with bus endorsement.
• 50%+ of time on the job spent traveling using an Agency and/or personal vehicle.
• Must pass driving criteria per Agency insurance carrier as well as DOT regulations to be hired and to maintain employment. 
• Valid driver’s license required.
• CPR certified or willing to obtain.
• Physical/tb/drug screen and comprehensive background check required.
• Reliable attendance and a professional work ethic.

SALARY & BENEFITS

This part-time position will begin immediately. This position will work 28 hours per week, Monday—Thursday with occasional Fridays and weekends. Starting pay is $17.00 per hour until a Bus endorsement is acquired. Starting pay is $18.00 per hour for applicants with a Bus endorsement. This position is for the program year, with summers off. This part-time position will have access to vacation, sick and holiday pay, and our employer contribution 401k.
